Everyone is familiar with You Tube as the premier video site on the market but there are literally hundreds of others. Their popularity is massive and ever growing. There is strong evidence that users love them too. In a recent study of an email campaign, the same email was sent out but with a slight twist.
In email 1, the wording went along the lines of “to read what we thought click here” inferring that you would have to read an article to get the information and in email 2 the wording said “click here to view what we thought” i.e. you are going to watch a video basically giving you the same information. The results were quite stark. Video 2 was clicked more than 30 times that of email 1, purely because people thought it was an easier way to get the information.
Video is interactive, dynamic and it allows you stand out from your competitors who don’t use them. Just imagine if you’re looking at 2 different web pages, one has video and one doesn’t, which one are you going to feel you can interact with more?
You can also optimise your You Tube videos, here’s an example
Notice how the Title is optimised and the first line of the description has the complete URL of where you want people to go (make sure you include the http:// bit otherwise it won’t automatically become a link), this makes it very easy for people to visit your website after looking at your video.
